

Jonathan Willard White, 81, passed away at the VNA Hospice House in Concord, NH on May 1, 2026. He was born on January 17, 1945 in Arlington, MA to Evelyn Barton White and Stanley Willard White of Lexington, MA. He had a happy childhood in Lexington, attending local schools, then graduating in 1962 from the Belmont Hill School in Belmont, MA. He earned a BA from Dartmouth College in 1966, where he was the ROTC cadet colonel.
After college he went into the Army, and was proud to have served with the 101st Airborne. He married Cynthia (Cindy) Everett on July 15, 1967, six months before being deployed to Vietnam, where he arrived just before the Tet offensive. While in Vietnam, he attained the rank of captain, having earned several medals, including the Army Commendation Medal with a V for valor.
After serving four years in the Army, Jon and Cindy moved to New Hampshire, where he earned his MBA in finance at the University of New Hampshire. He built a successful investment career, beginning as an analyst at Scudder, Stevens, and Clark. He later held roles at Travelers Insurance, Banknorth, and Citizens’ Funds.
Tennis was his favorite hobby in his younger days. He loved reading both fiction and non-fiction, and he and Cindy enjoyed traveling, especially to Bermuda with their children.
He was predeceased by their son Daniel, his parents, and his sisters Nancy Colin and Carol Higgins. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Cindy White, his son Matthew, daughter Marta (husband Rick Marvel), sister-in-law Jean Coburn, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
There will be calling hours at the Bennett Funeral Home in Concord on May 18 from 4:00-6:00 PM. There will be a graveside service with military honors in Atkinson, NH later in the week, where he will be buried beside his son, Daniel.
