
Belmont – Michael Edward DeAvilla, 45, of Belmont NH passed away on Saturday January 21 2012. He was born in Malden, Massachusetts on December 4th 1966, the son of the late June McDonough DeAvilla.
He spent his childhood living in Malden, Massachusetts and was a member of the Diplomat Drum and Bugle Corps and an avid martial arts student. Michael graduated Malden High School in 1984 and entered the Naval Reserves. Throughout his short life, he has been a proud member of the NH Freemasons and Shriners, Boss Clown named Yowza, whom made a difference in the lives of so many children from the Shriner hospitals. He was also a Past Master of St. Marks Lodge in Derry NH.
Mike held various positions in law enforcement and security such as an armored car driver, a Massachusetts constable, a corporate security officer and a personal protector to name a few. For the past eight years Mike worked at the Merrimack County Correctional facility in Boscawen, NH as a correctional supervisor, a Threat Group Coordinator, and a member of the Special Response Team.
He was a devoted father to his children; Kacie and Joseph DeAvilla, and stepfather to Karyne and Kimberly Maines.
He was predeceased by his infant son James Michael DeAvilla and his grandparents Leo and Effie McDonough of Seabrook NH.
Surviving family members include his wife Susan Greenwood DeAvilla of Belmont NH, his children Kacie and Joseph DeAvilla of Londonderry and Sarah Douglas of Florida, Karyne and Kimberly Maines of Belmont NH, his sister Jill Coakley of Woburn MA, and nieces and nephews; as well as various friends from work, and the Freemasons.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, January 26, 2012 from 1-3pm and 6-8pm at the Bennett Funeral Home, 209 North Main Street, Concord, NH.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 27, 2012 at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 274 Pleasant Street, Concord, NH at 11am. Burial will follow at Blossom Hill Cemetery in Concord, NH. A reception will follow at location to be announced.
