Nancy Raphelson Bush, 68, a resident of Loudon for 42 years, died peacefully on Monday, June 18, 2018 at her home. She was a successful kidney transplant survivor for over twenty-five years and passed away after a short battle with cancer. Born on July 6, 1949, in Philadelphia, PA, Nancy was the daughter of Morton and Helen (Moore) Raphelson and spent her youth in Cinnaminson, NJ. After graduating from Cinnaminson High School, she received her B.S. from the University of Maine in 1971 and took advanced studies in cytotechnology at Thomas Jefferson University. She took great pride and was a dedicated professional as a cytotechnologist for the Eliot Hospital until her retirement in 2005.
Nancy was always thinking of others. It wasn’t unusual to find her sending care packages to her nieces at college or to a friend in the service stationed overseas. Nancy loved her grandchildren and delighted in finding gifts they would enjoy. She was an outstanding cook! Family and friends were the recipients of their favorite dishes that she made on many fun occasions. During retirement, she was an industrious and accomplished gardener who was always amazing the neighbors with the latest additions to her gardens. She was also talented with crafts, building dozens of bird houses during the winter as well as constructing a fairy garden each spring to the delight of the neighborhood children. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Morton and Helen of Cinnaminson, NJ; her brother, Mark Raphelson of Sheridan, WY and a nephew Nicholas Piacentini of Philadelphia, PA.
She is survived by her loving husband, John of 46 years; son, Kevin and his wife, Michelle of Derry, NH; grandchildren, Jason and Madison; her sister, Jean Piacentini and her husband, Frank of Philadelphia, PA; her brother, Bruce and his wife, Terri-Lyn of Haddonfield, NJ; her nieces, Samantha and Meredith Raphelson and nephews Jason and Christopher Brugler and Eric King.
Nancy’s family and friends would like to thank the Concord Regional Visiting Nurse Association for their help in her final days.
