He is survived by his daughter, Melissa Westerman of Portsmouth, NH, his son Mark Edney, MD and his wife Ashley (Shurtleff) Edney of Salisbury, MD, step son Kevin Orff and his wife Julie of League City, TX, stepdaughter Karen (Orff) Giguere and her husband John of Chester , two brothers: David Edney and his wife Shelly of Webster, MA, and Thomas Edney of Payson, AZ, and seven grandchildren: Briden, Sam and Shepard Edney of Salisbury, MD, Jessica and Jenna Giguere, of Chester, and Hannah and Matthew Orff of League City, TX.
Born in Concord in 1950, he grew up on South Street and graduated from Concord High School in 1968. After taking courses at St. Anselm College, he joined the Concord Police Department. He later transitioned to the New Hampshire State Police as both a patrolman and subsequently an undercover drug enforcement officer. In the late 70s, he and his then-wife, and mother of his children, Catherine (Parkerson) Lord, owned and operated Broadway Market. After selling the store, he had a short stint as a bus driver with Concord Trailways and then became a skilled large machine operator in the construction industry.
He loved music, blueberry muffins, the perfect steak, his dogs, warm weather and, most of all, spending time with those he loved. He had great love for his family and they had a great love for him. No one will forget Mike's unforgettable, incomparable sense of humor and infectious laugh or his amazing hugs.
A celebration of Mike’s life will occur on June 25, 2021 at Bennett Funeral Home in Concord. Visiting hours will be from 3-5:30pm with a memorial service beginning at 5:30p.
