Born in Camden, NJ, "Bob" was the son of the late George Hackney and Frances (Ball) Dutton. He attended high school in Haddonfield, NJ and enlisted in the army serving as a cook. In 1965 Bob moved to NH where he was employed by Arwood Investment Castings in Tilton. After marrying and moving to Chichester, he worked for Public Service of NH at their Bow plant. He retired from a Shift Supervisor position in 1992 after 23 years of service, and worked part-time for Sanels Auto Parts, and Pembroke Towing.
Bob spent many years working on the home he shared with his wife and family and was proud of the vast improvements. He enjoyed working with his tractors to groom the lawn and return the fields to their former state. Bob had a generous and giving nature and was quick to offer his time and energy to anyone who needed help. Bob was the Trail Master of the Chichester Sno-Packers snowmobile club for many years, and a lifetime member of the Chichester Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed the outdoors as an avid snowmobiler and hunter, and enjoyed watching nature that passed by his window. He especially enjoyed the kinship of hunting with friends, and frequenting his favorite restaurants. The light in his life came from his daughters and their beautiful children.
He is predeceased by his loving wife of 46 years, Audrey (Lake) Hackney, his grandson Maurice "Moe" Gerow III, and his son-in-law, William "Bill" Lane. Members of his surviving family include his three daughters, Pamela J. Gerow and her husband Maurice; Pauline F. Nanjari and her husband, Leonardo; and Theresa H. Lane; five wonderful grandchildren: Stephanie, Danny, Lauren, Emily and Rachael; great-grandson, Seth, brother and sister-in-law, G. Kent and Bonnie Hackney of NJ, nephews Mark Hackney (wife Jeannie) and J Hackney, and niece Karyn (Hackney) Montgomery (husband Pat), great nieces and many cousins.
