

Bill was born on December 1, 1921 in N. Attleboro, MA. He married Jean E. Woodford of Marcellus, NY. They remained together for 67 years, and raised their family in Holliston, MA. Bill worked as a draftsman, and a mechanical and electrical engineer. Upon retirement, Jean and Bill bought a working vineyard in Gilmanton, NH. They both called Gilmanton home for the rest of their lives.
During his almost 100 years on this earth, Bill experienced many notable events. As a teenager, he helped clean up Providence, RI after the hurricane of ’38. Bill was attending a high school football game in N. Attleboro when news came of the attack on Pearl Harbor. Soon after, he enlisted and served in the signal corps in France, during WWII.
He and Jean traveled extensively, researching family genealogy, natural science and education techniques. He was a voracious reader, enjoying westerns and science fiction.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife Jean and two sons, William III and James. He is survived by his daughter Carol; son-in-law John; grandchildren Adam, Alice, Clint, and Robin; and his great-grandson Jack.
