

Born April 4, 1944, in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Elmer Eugene Bell and Margaret Ratchford Bell. Leon was a loving husband, brother, father and grandfather. He worked for Flowers Auto Parts for over 35 years and opened and ran Bell Automotive since 1998. Leon was a a longtime and active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Catawba where he served as President of the congregation, Sunday School Superintendent, Elder and a longtime member of the choir.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 50 years, Peggy Stewart Bell; daughter, Deanna Lowrance and husband, Rodney, of Catawba; son, Marcus “Marc” Bell of Catawba; grandchildren, Andrew Lowrance, Erika Lowrance, Sheldon Bell, Philip Bell, Austin Bell; brother, Dwight Bell and wife, Nancy, of Catawba; sister, Brenda Leatherman and husband, Marvin of Newton.
A Service of Remembrance will be held on Friday, December 26, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church with Rev. Greg Alms officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Philip Bell, Austin Bell, Andrew Lowrance, Cody Ledbetter, Jereme Bell and Justin Bell.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:45 p.m. on Friday prior to the service.
