Alma Reinhardt Barringer, age 87, of Conover, passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at Conover Nursing Home. Alma was born in Catawba County on Friday, June 8, 1934 to the late Fred Alexander Reinhardt and Elsie Muriel Eckard Reinhardt.
In addition to her parents, Alma was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Paul Revone Barringer.
Alma loved to cross-stitch, crochet, and work with ceramics when she was younger. As a music lover, she enjoyed playing the piano and singing in the choir. Gardening, flowers, and feeding birds (humming birds were her favorite) gave her many hours of enjoyment. She was an active member of Trinity Reformed UCC, attending regular Sunday services until the last several weeks. Most of all Alma was a loving wife to Paul and a dear mother and grandmother. She was the family’s glue, always giving 100% of herself to each of them. Alma’s sweet smile and pleasant voice will be missed by everyone that had the pleasure of knowing her.
The family would like to thank the staff at Catawba Valley Medical Center, Conover Nursing and Rehab Center and Amorem (formerly Caldwell Hospice) who cared for her during her brief illness.
Those left to cherish her memory are sons, Steve (Donna) Barringer of Conover and Kelly Barringer of Denver and grandchildren, Kristen (Matt) Sims and Lauren Barringer.
A celebration of life service will be held at 12:00 pm on Friday, May 20 at Trinity Reformed UCC, 217 Second Ave NE, Conover with Reverend Peggy Stout officiating. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall after the service.
Burial will be prior to the service at 10:30am on Friday, May 20 at Bethany United Church of Christ Cemetery, 2952 Bethany Church Rd, Claremont, 28610.
