Barbara Norris Cloninger

Born December 25, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Butler Norris and Mary Izell Rhodes Norris.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her first husband, Roy Eugene Duncan, and

her second husband, Dr. Charles Cloninger, and a son in-law, Mark Carter.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Dana Carter of Sherrills Ford; son, Stephen Duncan and wife, Linda of Maiden;

brother, Robin Norris and wife, Mary of Georgia; sisters, Betty Jo Gordon and husband, Benny of Georgia, Meg Economy and husband,

Dean of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren, Jenny Zimmerman and husband, Chris of Barnardsville, NC, Chris Duncan and wife Sharlie of

Huntersville, NC; great-grandchild, Hattie Grace Wood of Barnardsville, NC.

Barbara was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a graduate of Lenoir Rhyne and enjoyed teaching

at Newton-Conover Middle School. Barbara was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church in Newton. She served as a volunteer

at Catawba Valley Medical Center as her desire was always to help others. She was an avid fan of UNC basketball and NASCAR.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 27, 2016 in the Chapel of Drum Funeral Home in Conover with

Pastor David Hamlin officiating. The family will receive friends after the Service.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be given to Abernethy Laurels, 102 Leonard Avenue, Newton, NC 28658.
