Born September 5, 1940 in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Clarence Eugene Hedrick and Lovella Richards Hedrick.
Gene was a master wood carver at the artisan level and an avid beekeeper. In his spare time, he enjoyed making homemade muscadine wine and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his son, Ira Eugene Hedrick and fiancée, Kimberly A. Jones; daughter, Revonda Linn Rials and husband, Bradley Rials; brother, Willard “Bugs” Hedrick and wife, Wanda “Lou”; sisters, Nancy Wilkie and husband, Norman, and Pearl Caldwell and husband, Paul; grandchildren, Shane Hedrick, Dustin Eugene Hedrick and fiancée, Aleisha Tucker, Aaron Kyle Hedrick, Brandi Elizabeth Johnston and husband, Joshua, Victoria Rose Mora and husband, Alphonso, Rachel Katherine Rials and fiancé, Nicholas McDaniels, Eva Ann Rials, Diana Grace Rials; and great-grandchildren, Alphonso Devlin Mora, Madison Dellinger, Bailey Little, Kylie Tucker, and Andrew Tucker.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, April 11, 2016 at Drum Funeral Home in Conover, NC.
