David Porter Tallman, age 50, passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2015 at Catawba Regional Hospice in Newton. Born March 10, 1964, he was the son of Judith Traver McLean Tallman of Conover and the late James Edmond Tallman. David graduated from St. Stephens High School in 1982 where he was All-Conference in football and track. He served with the Fairbrook Volunteer Fire Department. David loved photography and nature and was loved by his family and many, many friends. He survived paraplegia and testicular cancer and fought bladder cancer with strength, dignity and perseverance. His final battle was with lung cancer.
In addition to his mother, survivors include daughter, Skye Tallman of Hickory; brother, Sam Tallman and wife, Cindy of Claremont; sister, Kathy Tallman of Summerton, SC; and granddaughter, Celeste Pope of Hickory.
His family will receive friends on Saturday, February 7, 2015 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Drum Funeral Home in Conover
