Earl Linwood Tyndall

Earl Linwood Tyndall, age 81, passed away on Tuesday, January 6, 2026 at Catawba Valley Medical Center surrounded by his family after a long battle with cancer. Earl was born on Sunday, November 5, 1944 in Erwin, NC to the late William James Tyndall and Mattie Hall Tyndall.

In addition to his parents, Earl was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 46 years, Ruth Jonas Tyndall; brother, James Tyndall; sisters, Alease McDonald, Lucille Bass, Pauline Smith, Nellie Darden, Thelma Hair, and Judy Faircloth.

Earl was a good man. He loved his family and friends, and he was always there when they needed him. In the early 1970’s he raced in the Hobby Division alongside his brother. He will be missed greatly, but it is comforting to know that he has been reunited with his wife, Ruth and all his family that went before him.

Those left to cherish Earl’s memory are his stepchildren, Lisa Woodring (Jimmy), Kristi Ward (Wayne), Wesley Auton, Jody Friend; and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held prior to the service on Friday, January 9, 2026 from 1:30 pm to 2:15 pm at Friendly Baptist Church, 564 Friendly Church Rd, Taylorsville, NC 28681.

A Funeral Service for Earl will be held at 2:30 pm at Friendly Baptist Church with Pastor Derek Jonas officiating. Burial will immediately follow at the church cemetery.

Pallbearers are Jerry Barden, Steve Barden, Kenny Smith, Wesley Auton, Trey Auton, and Wayne McDonald.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Friendly Baptist Church, 564 Friendly Church Rd, Taylorsville, NC 28681.
