

New York City, NY, the daughter of the late Mathias and Eva Schmidt Weber, both immigrants from Hungary who entered the United States through
Ellis Island.
Marie moved to Conover, NC with her late husband William J. Miller, Sr. in 1957 when Bill was transferred to Conover to work for Jackson Buff.
The couple was married for 62 years until Bill’s death in 2006.
Marie was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who always put her family before herself. She was a member of Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Newton, the Conover Women’s Service League, and her favorite hobbies were playing bridge with friends and cooking for her family.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother Matthew Weber of Ohio.
She is survived by her son Ret. Col. William J. Miller, Jr. and wife Anne of Mt. Dora, FL; her daughter Chris Herman and fiancé Don Patrick of Conover; grandchildren Amy Herman Matthews and husband Andy of Conover and Jason Herman and wife Lisa of Newton; great-grandchildren Collin Matthews, William Connor Matthews, Aubrey Marie Herman and special nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 23, 2017, at 12:30 p.m. at Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Newton with Father James Collins and Deacon Scott Gilfillan officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:15 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in Catawba Memorial Park.
