Mary Ruth Rudisill Gross

Mary Ruth Rudisill Gross, age 86 of Hickory, NC, passed away on February 5, 2014 at Trinity Ridge Lutheran Home in the Mountain View Community. Born May 3, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence D. Rudisill and Ivey Killian Rudisill. Ruth was a member of Starmount Baptist Church in Newton and devoted her life to making a home for her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Marston T. “Shorty” Gross; sisters, Hazel R. Gross, Edith Rudisill, Irene Gross; brothers, Buster M. Rudisill and Marcus M. Rudisill.

Survivors include her daughter, Joyce G. Goins of Asheville; sons, Eddie Gross and wife, Donna, of Hickory, Tony Gross of Hickory; sister, Alice R. Benfield of Newton; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

A Service of Remembrance will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 7, 2014 in the Chapel of Drum Funeral Home in Conover with Steve Noble officiating. Burial will follow at Starmount/Greater Faith Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. on Friday prior to the service.

Serving as pallbearers are Keegan Noble, Steve Noble, Tyler Williams, Ryan Livingston, Zane Gross, and Jerome Hartso.
