Peggy Lewis Drum

Peggy Lewis Rudisill Drum, age 85, of Newton, NC, passed away on Monday, October 30, 2017, at Abernethy Laurels in Newton, NC, after a brief illness. Born October 17, 1932, in Catawba County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Hugh Rudisill and Macie Isenhour Rudisill.

Peggy was a graduate of Lenoir Rhyne College and received her Masters degree from Appalachian State University. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society and had retired from the Newton-Conover School System where she had worked as a teacher and librarian. Peggy was a member of Beth Eden Lutheran Church in Newton, NC, where she had been active in the WELCA.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Forrest Edward Drum; and two brothers, James Rudisill and Jack Rudisill.

Survivors include her daughter, Melissa Gray and husband John Drake of Boone, NC; step-daughters, Diane Drum and husband Bill Kowalczyk of Portland, OR, and Nancy Petry and husband Shannon of Durham, NC; granddaughter, Megan Martin and husband Lance; step-grandchildren, Sara Kowalczyk, Ben Kowalczyk, Stan Kowalczyk, and Andrew Petry.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, November 1, 2017, at Beth Eden Lutheran Church with Rev. Marcus Ollis officiating. The family will receive friends at the church following the service. A private graveside service will be held for family at Catawba Memorial Park in Hickory, NC.
