Born June 10, 1940 in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Walter and Grace Liola Huffman Martin.
He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Newton and had worked in the furniture industry.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Frank Martin and two sisters, Thelma Irene Keller and Ruth Shook.
Survivors include a sister and brother-in-law, Viola and Bill McKinney of Newton.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at 3:00 pm, Monday, August 26, 2013 at Drum Funeral Home Chapel in Conover. Burial will be in Eastview Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:45 pm until 2:45 pm, prior to the service.
