Wesley Wallace Hass, age 86, of Hickory, NC, went home on Thursday, September 27, 2018, at Kingston Residence in Hickory. Wes was a leap year baby, born February 29, 1932, in Milwaukee WI. Wesley was the son of the late Edwin William Carl Hass and Lillian Anna Schultz Hass.
Wesley was a career salesman of maritime products for over 30 years. Wes was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church, where he served as an elder and usher. He also enjoyed singing in the choir. Wes served in the Korean war and was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with family. He could fix anything. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, friend and Papa.
In addition to his parents, Wes is preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Nancy Welke Hass (2/13/1934 – 9/26/2005), brothers, Ralph, Allan and Gerald Hass and infant sister June.
Survivors include son, Rev. Paul (Camilla) Hass of Arkansas; daughter, Carolyn (Randal) Ellis, of Conover; sons, Dr. Andrew (Nicole) Hass of Conover and Rev. Mark (Ageena) Hass of Arkansas; grandchildren, Alec Hass, Elijah Ellis, Anna Kathryn Hass, Isaac Hass, Noah Hass, Savannah Ellis, Scarlett Ellis, Sophie Hass, David Hass, Cole Hass, John Hass, and Drew Hass.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at Concordia Lutheran Church in Conover with Rev. Paul Nelson officiating. Burial will follow at Conover City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. at the church.
The family would like to thank the staff members at Kingston Residence, and Medi-Home Hospice for all the kindness, care, and concern shown to Wes. You gave our family great peace in knowing he was under your care.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Concordia Day School, Concordia Lutheran Church, 216 5th Ave. SE, Conover, NC 28613.
