Arvil “Buddy” was born in Hemphill, TX to Pat and Winnie Smith. He grew up loving the outdoors and spent much of his time hunting and fishing with family and friends. He graduated from Hemphill High School in 1959, and moved to Houston, TX to continue his education at Southwestern Business College. He met his wife Laura Woodson Smith in 1960 and they were married on January 25, 1963. They shared 58 wonderful years together.
Hunting and fishing was a big part of his life and he also enjoyed woodworking. He always had a project that kept him busy in his shop. More than anything, he loved his family. Spending time with family was by far the closest thing to his heart.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Laura Smith, son Rodney Smith and wife Kelley of Huntsville, TX; daughter Jena Hutchinson and husband Dusty of Montgomery, TX; four grandchildren, Cody Smith and wife Nina, Casey Smith and wife Haley, Shelbie Hutchinson, and Macey Hutchinson; two great grandchildren Riley Smith and Allie Smith; many nephews, nieces, cousins, family members and countless friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be Sunday, August 29, 2021 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Metcalf Funeral Home in Conroe, TX. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, August 30, 2021 at Metcalf Funeral Home in Conroe, TX. Officiating the services will be Otis Hilburn.
Burial will be at Vick Cemetery in Grangerland, TX followed by a lunch hosted by the family.
Serving as Pallbearers are Sam Jones, Glenn McDaniel, Cody Smith, Casey Smith, Jody White, Ryan Woodson
