

Rebecca Elaine Harris, aged 65, passed away on Sunday, October 30, 2016, at the hospital, with loved ones close-by, from complications due to a chronic pulmonary illness. Becky was born on February 16, 1951 in Pasadena, Texas to Evelyn (Avon) and George Harris. After graduating from Galena Park High School, Becky began her illustrious and diversified career in multiple areas in the construction and forestry industries. Through her dedication, hard work and strong work ethic, Becky held her own and excelled in male-dominated jobs at Brown & Root, FedEX, Armco Steel and lumber mills. She was incredibly proud of her son and of the fact that she passed her strong work ethic onto him. Becky was a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 618, serving as District 7 President in the past. Becky loved people and throughout her life, provided much needed support to family members, veterans, and anyone else she was able to help. Becky loved being outdoors and activities such as camping, fishing, swimming, spending time on the banks of the Trinity River and Lake Livingston, and loved being at the beach. Most of all, Becky loved her family, especially her son Chris and granddaughter Jaclyn, and her Daddy George. Preceded in death by her father George Harris, Becky is survived by son Chris Vaughn and wife Angel, mother Avon Sanders, brother Mike Harris and wife Donna, sisters Lisa Harris and Linda Harris and her family, and granddaughters Jaclyn Vaughn, Kristin Vaughn, and Macy Elder, as well as numerous other relatives. In lieu of flowers, her family is requesting donations be made in Becky’s honor to the American Legion Auxiliary, Post 618 Medical Scholarship Program.
