Betty Logan Britt (nee Van Lenten) passed away September 29, 2025, at her home at Worthington Manor, Conroe, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Helen Van Lenten; sisters Norma Palacio, Doris McNally; brother John, Jr.; husband James K. Logan who died in 1991, and husband Bob Britt who died in 2002. Betty is survived by her loving sons, James, Jr. and Scott D. Logan; brother Ronald (Claire); stepsons William Britt, Kyle Britt and Blanton Britt and Many loving nieces and nephews survive her as well as her many friends in April Sound.
Betty was born in Baltimore Md. on April 30, 1933, and spent her formative years in Philadelphia, Pa. where she lived until her marriage to Jim Logan in 1961. She lived in Boston, New York, Cleveland, Summit, NJ and Bunker Hill, Tx. She and Jim moved to April Sound in 1975. A move she never regretted. She and Jim had the distinction of being one of the “first fifteen permanent families” to move to this newly developed lake community in Montgomery, Texas.
Through the years Betty had two major careers. A secretary in Philadelphia for ten years and in 1980 she and Jim opened a boutique in Conroe, Texas. Double Take Boutique was her pride and joy. She reluctantly closed the doors in 1997 after seventeen years.
She was on the Board of Directors for the April Sound Tennis Association, Secretary for the Civic Association and a long-standing member of the Ladies Association and the April Sound Church. Tennis and vegetable gardening became her main activities and took pride in accomplishing both in her later years. Betty was a sports enthusiast extraordinaire. Whether the topic was football, baseball, basketball, golf or tennis, she could hold her own with the best of them.
Services will be held at the April Sound Church on October 18, 2025, at 11am with Pastor Dowen Johnson and Pastor Kieth Sobus presiding.
