Born in Houston on November 26, 1929, she grew up in Conroe, Texas and attended Southwestern and Sam Houston State Universities where she was a member of the Philo/Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. It was at Southwestern that Jobo met her future husband and partner in life, James Oran “Corky” McCorquodale. They married in Conroe in 1950 before moving to Austin to raise their family. They were married for 65 years.
Jobo embraced and celebrated the beauty of life everyday, bringing a smile to the faces of everyone around her. She was a devoted wife, mom and friend and she and Corky enjoyed a variety of social activities within the community. Jobo also enjoyed opening and running a boutique dress shop, SassyFrass, for many years.
Jobo is preceded in death by “Corky”- her dance partner and source of constant humor, her two sisters, Bonnie Hobbs Futch and Mickey Hobbs Clayton, and grandson, L.Cpl. Benjamin Schmidt. She is survived by her children Jimmy McCorquodale, Kenny McCorquodale (Jan) and Teresa Schmidt (David), seven grandchildren, one great grandson and two great granddaughters on the way.
The family would like to give special thanks to the incredible staff at Brookdale Champions and Brookdale Hospice for the tender, loving and special care Jobo received.
A private family service will be held Thursday, February 14, 2019.
