Billie O’dell Lewis Barron passed away on May 21, 2023, at her home in The Woodlands with family at her side. With her “eat dessert first” and “walls were meant to be covered” mantras along with her love of movies, camellias, animals and beautiful jewelry, Mother/MeeMa/GiGi brought sparkle to every room and conversation.
Billie was born to Kathryn Marie Keilberg and Ira Elwood Lewis in Austin on September 16, 1930, and grew up in Montrose. Shortly after fulfilling her childhood dream of becoming a Registered Nurse, she married Oscar Noel Barron at Second Baptist Church on August 24, 1951. Billie and Noel were married 57 years, up to Noel’s passing in 2009. Together, they had three children and lived in Oak Forest, Kingsville, Corpus Christi, Midland, New Orleans, River Plantation and The Woodlands.
Billie was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Noel, and her granddaughter Devan Marie Freeborn Barron. She is survived by her three children, Noelie Barron Day (Mike), William Lewis Barron (Jan) and Kaydell Barron; her five grandchildren, Michael Day (Emily), Brionne Day Morales (Marco), Emily Barron Robertson (Jason), Brigham James Barron and Miranda Noelle Barron Hunter (Trevor); her nine greatgrandchildren, Carter Matteson, Paz Morales, Robert Day, Charlie Day, Bryce Robertson, Oscar Nox Robertson, Avery Hunter, Thea Matteson and Remi Matteson; and extended family Dalaree and Jonny Matteson and numerous nieces and nephews.
A private graveside ceremony will be held at Cashner Funeral Home and Garden Park in Conroe, Texas. In lieu of customary remembrances, the family would ask you to consider memorial contributions to VITAS or the charity of your choice.
