Dawn Renee’ Gibbons Pickett, beloved daughter and mother of two, tragically lost her battle with bladder cancer Sunday September 17th at Vitas In-Patient Hospice in The Woodlands, surrounded by family. She was 51 years old. Dawn was born July 29, 1966 in Washington D.C. to Loretta and Bruce Gibbons Sr. and was raised by her mother and step-father, Chief Petty Officer Jim Clark, with her three brothers and two step-sisters. The family had been stationed across the east and southern coasts before finally settling in Houston, Texas, where Dawn attended Clear Creek High School, graduating in the Class of 1985. Dawn loved every single person that she met. She was a fiercely loyal and caring friend with the most infectious smile that instantly illuminated every room she walked into. She was a great friend and colleague but an even more incredible mother. Everyone who was lucky enough to know her, knew that her pride and joy were her two children, who both succeed her. She was a greatly loved and respected member of her community, having worked many years in the real estate industry which she was so passionate about. Dawn worked as a Realtor, a Title Officer, and most recently a home warranty Sales Executive, having worked for Old Republic Home Protection since 2012. She was an active member of the Women’s Council of Realtors, serving as an officer of her local chapter in Montgomery County. Dawn was a devout Christian whose faith was never broken despite the immense challenges of which she was faced. She was a member of the Woodlands Church. Dawn is preceded in death by her father, Bruce Gibbons Sr., her step-father, Jim Clark, brother Wayne Gibbons, and step-sister, Lori Clark. She is survived by her two children, Breanna and Enrique Morell IV, her mother, Loretta Gibbons Clark, her brothers Bruce and Glenn Gibbons, step-sister Michelle Clark, the father of her two children, Enrique Morell III, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. All services for Dawn will be held at Cashner Funeral Home in Conroe, Texas. A viewing will be held Thursday, September 21st and opens to family at 4:00pm and to guests from 5:00pm – 8:00pm. Funeral and burial services will be held Friday, September 22nd at 3:00pm, and will be ministered by Laurie Taylor. Her family would like to thank her team at MD Anderson and Vitas Healthcare for the amazing quality of care she received throughout her illness.
