Deloris Beck, who was known, as Dee Dee, by all who loved her, transitioned from this life on, December 27, 2025, after a short battle with cancer. Born on June 12, 1956, the fifth child of seven, born to Alma Lee and Otis Hornesby, Sr., Dee Dee became a loving sister and friend to all who knew her.
As she grew from a child to an adult, she displayed grace, and charm, with an artistic gift of drawing, and painting. She had the ability to captivate hearts with her beauty and charm, wherever she went.
She married Cornelius Beck during the seventies; and they both raised their daughter, Nyeshia Beck until his demise. At that time Dee Dee was left to raise her daughter alone. She was a devoted mother and provider, working as a medical secretary for Martland Medical Center in Newark, NJ.
Committed to raising her daughter with the best life possible, she relocated to California to be near her family. After moving to California’s North Bay Area, she was blessed with a position at Children’s Hospital in Oakland, CA; a position she held for 20 years. After realizing her lifelong dream had not been fulfilled, she resigned from Children’s Hospital and became a Flight Attendant.
She started her career as a flight attendant with Northwest Airlines. After an extended furlough she took a position with ExpressJet Airlines. Life turned when she met the love of her life, Captain Mark Spence. They became a couple and have lived together and loved each other for the past 15 years. Mark was a devoted partner and was by her side during her illness and transition from this life.
