Doris Lum Meyer, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother was born on April 3, 1928 in San Benito, Texas. She went to be with our Lord on February 7, 2021, in Conroe, Texas at her home at the age of 92 and surrounded by her husband and family.
Doris was a resident of Conroe, Texas for the past forty years. She grew up on Tarkington Prairie and moved to Pasadena, Texas in 1954. She was a piano teacher for more than seventy years and had a great love for music and teaching. She was the epitome of Godliness and grace with her soft voice, loving heart, giving spirit, merciful soul and love of people.
Doris was preceded in death by her first husband of over fifty years, S. E. Lum Jr.; her parents, Ernest Lee and Jewell A. Marley; and her firstborn son, Stephen Ray Lum who died at birth.
Doris is survived by her husband, Jim Meyer; her two children, Donald Gene Lum and wife Cheryl of Geelong Australia, and Karen Ann Boer and husband Terry of Kountze, Texas. She is also survived by her grandchildren Ryan Matthew Price and wife Kim, Jason Everett Price and wife Heather, Natasha Fisher and husband Rob, Chantelle O’Kelly and husband Danon, as well as, great-grandchildren Colby Price and wife Kinley, Payton Hawley, Rachel Townsend and husband Matthew, Krysta Fuller, Briana Price, Jamy Price, Logan Arnold, Solomon Price; great-great-grandchildren Callen O’Kelly, Blake O’Kelly, Kai Beckett Fisher, Remi Lou Price, Tobyn Townsend, Noah Townsend and other children from her husband, Jim, and many other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a lifetime of music families throughout her years of teaching.
Doris’ celebration of life will be on Thursday, February 11th at 11:00 a.m. at Metcalf Funeral Home in Conroe, Texas with a procession to the graveside at Lum’s Garden of Memories-Macedonia, Cleveland, Texas. There will be a visitation schedule for Wednesday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Metcalf Funeral Home.
