In loving memory, we announce the passing of Enrique Alfonso Campalans, a beloved husband, father, son, and brother. Alfonso passed peacefully on the morning of May 15th, 2024, at the age of 59, surrounded by his family in his home in The Woodlands, Texas.
Alfonso was born on July 9th, 1965, in Caracas, Venezuela. As a young man, he developed passion for aviation, writing, and the outdoors. He earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Adams State University in Alamosa, Colorado and married the love of his life, Mariela Carvallo, in 1992.
Alfonso captained a globe-spanning career. From his start as a news correspondent for Radio Martí, he went on to succeed in management consulting, finance, and later as an entrepreneur, adventuring with his family between Venezuela, Singapore, Mexico, and the United States. In the midst of his illness, he became an ardent patient advocate, going so far as to develop new medical products to help patients like him.
He is survived by his wife, Mariela; his children, Carmen, Nico, and Karina; his brother Luis and nephews; his extended family including the Campalans, Carvallo, Sevillano, Fuster, and Grimshaw families; and many other loving family and life-long friends. He was predeceased by his father, Luis Manuel, and his mother, Billie Rose.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 22nd at 11:00AM at St. Anthony Padua Catholic Church, 7801 Bay Branch Drive, The Woodlands, Texas 77382.
Alfonso will be deeply missed, but his boundless love, resilience, and passion for life will live on in those who knew him.
