Delma was born May 2, 1926 in Huntsville, Texas. She lived a very active and blessed 96 years. Throughout her life, Delma resided in Houston, Trinity, and Huntsville, Texas. Delma graduated from Huntsville High School in 1944. She met and married William "Haude" Joseph Corley in 1945 after exchanging letters during William's service in Germany and the Battle of the Bulge in World War II. Delma and William had one son, Kenneth Dale Corley.
Her family and friends knew her as a devout Christian and a loving and enthusiastic mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and active member of the church. She was a member of Houston's Little York Baptist Church and Dorcas Wills Baptist Church in Trinity, Texas. She loved church singings, being with family and friends, travel, and was an avid domino, sequence, skipbo, and wa-hoo player. She loved studying the Bible and being in the Word.
Delma lost her loving husband, William, in 1971 and later married James MacTavish in 1982. Delma and James enjoyed many years of bass fishing trips, singings, and fellowship with other believers.
Delma was preceded in death by her first husband, William Corley and their son, Kenneth Corley. She was also preceded in death by her second husband,
James MacTavish, and her siblings Stella Lee, Maxine Ellington, and Clyde Johnson as well as many other family members.
Delma is survived by a loving family: Step-son Donnie MacTavish and his wife Jo; Grandson, Chad Hoke, his wife Janet and great-grandchildren Hannah Hoke and Mason Hoke; Grandson, Zachary Corley, his wife Shawn, and great-grandchildren Aidan Corley, Ronan Corley, and Jack Corley; Grandson Todd Hoke and wife Kylie, Great grandchildren Brayden, Lucas, and Taylor Hoke. Granddaughter Erin Corley Copeland, her husband Michael, and great-grandson Kane Copeland; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews, and cousins.
The visitation will be held at Metcalf Funeral Home at 1801 East White Oak Terrace, Conroe, Texas on Thursday, July 7 from 5 to 7 p.m.
The interment, officiated by Pastor Ken Bugh, will be held at Pool's Cemetery at 24143 FM 149, Richards, Texas on Friday, July 8 at 10 a.m.
An on-site gathering will be held immediately after the interment.
