Born on June 6, 1947, in Martins Ferry, Ohio, Fred was the son of Clarence and Marie Leach. He was raised in Bridgeport, Ohio, where he met the love of his life, Lee. The two married in 1967 and shared 58 wonderful years together.
Shortly after their wedding, Fred enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and spent four years stationed in Spokane, Washington before returning back home to Bridgeport. In 1984, he moved his family to Texas to continue his career in the oil and gas industry, settling in Texarkana and later Houston. Once their sons were grown, Fred and Lee embraced a new adventure, spending a year in Indonesia immersed in its vibrant culture and expat community. In his later years, Fred cherished wintering in Arizona, reconnecting with friends and enjoying the desert warmth.
Fred was a man of many talents and passions. He loved the outdoors, whether relaxing on his swing, skydiving, or vacationing with his family in Mexico. A true handyman, Fred had a knack for fixing anything and a love for woodworking. He crafted cherished items like a dollhouse for his grandchildren and custom games like “Pegs and Jokers.” He delighted in teaching his granddaughters life skills, sharing laughter, and creating lasting memories.
Above all, Fred treasured his family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Lee Leach; his sons, Hank Leach and wife Sara, and Bryan Leach and wife Mitzi; his beloved grandchildren, Taylor (26), Reagan (23), Sophia (21), Marissa (18), Haven (13), and Brooklyn (11); and his sister, Linda Fischer and husband Ron. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Marie Leach.
