Gary Calfee

Gary Bruce Calfee was born on July 29, 1946 in Conroe, Texas to John Harvey “Dick” Calfee and Ada Ruth Fultz Calfee and passed away Sunday, May 7, 2017 while doing what he loved, quail hunting and working his bird dogs while surrounded by longtime hunting buddies and family friends, at the age of 70. Gary was a lifetime Montgomery County resident. Gary was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Patricia Kuhlman Calfee. Gary is survived by his daughter, Kristin Calfee Bybee and husband Tony; grandchildren, Sophie Satterwhite, Torey Bybee and Taylor Bybee; step-daughters; Tori Berghoff and husband Joel and Becky McEntire and husband Doug; step-grandchildren, Jake McEntire, Olivia McEntire, Leo Berghoff and Josie Berghoff; sister, Carol Van Alstyne and husband John; niece Amy Lehnert and husband Ben; nephew, Micah Van Alstyne and fiancee Abigail Burns with numerous other relatives and friends. Gary was involved with his community and served on various boards including as acting president of Municipal Utility District #126. He served on the board of Tax Incremental Reinvestment Zone #3 and was the chairman of the Texas State Soil and Water Conservation Board. Gary lived his life with gusto and to those of us who were lucky enough to have him in our lives know that he did things “His Way”. Gary was a very generous man helping others behind the scenes privately and extending a hand to those in need. Gary was a graduate of Willis High School and attended Sam Houston State University. Visitation will be at Cashner Funeral Home on Thursday, May 11, 2017 from 5-7pm. Celebration of Life Service will be Friday, May 12, 2017 at the First Baptist Church in Conroe at 10am with Judge Wayne Mack officiating. Burial will follow in the Cude Cemetery.
