Jerry is survived by his wife of almost 40 years, Toni Verran (Mueller). Jerry is also survived by his son, Jerry Verran, Jr (Sharon Hutson) of Texas, daughters Jill Hause (Lloyd Lamb), Julie Gedart (Brian), and Wendy Allen (Danny) all of Ohio. Also, surviving are his three step-children Stephanie Powers (Steve) of Texas, Lori Holtzman (Dean) and Joe (Michele) Wilz of Ohio. Jerry was blessed with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends.
Jerry worked at ADT in Dayton, Ohio from 1965 until he transferred to ADT in Houston, Texas in 1979.
Jerry was hired by Texas Commerce Bank (later known as JP Morgan Chase Bank) in the 1980’s. Jerry liked to joke that he had the same desk and office until his retirement in 2004 but had been employed by 4 different banks in that time period.
Jerry enjoyed many hours laughing and talking with friends seated outside of the garage. Tools were borrowed, jokes were told, advice was given and beer was drank.
Jerry was a strong supporter of the 2nd Amendment and even though born in Tennessee he considered himself a Texan.
Jerry and Toni found great comfort and joy with their little “watch dog” Bear.
One of Jerry’s young friends said it best in the following post:
“….Mr. Jerry is no longer with us. Other than being the grandpa I had never had , the only other way to describe Mr. J is Clint Eastwood-Gran Torino….the world’s greatest neighbor, my friend, my buddy, my dude, my partner in crime, my fisherman, my driest mentor, and the man that every dog on the planet would call “best friend” Mr. Jerry Verran. I hope he gives Wyatt Earp another treat.”
Services will be held at a later date with a private family celebration of life.
