

Funeral services for Glenn Douglas Haas, age 78, of Willis will be held on Friday, December 18, 2009, at 11a.m. at First Baptist Church of Willis with Rev. Charles Smith officiating. Lunch will follow at the church. Visitation scheduled for Thursday, December 17, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Cashner Funeral Home. Glenn was born October 19, 1931, in Mercedes, Texas, and passed into the arms of the Lord on December 14, 2009, at his home in Willis, Texas. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. It was also in Korea that he was called into service by the Lord when he gave his life to Jesus Christ. He married Beverly June Bevers on December 17, 2009. With his wife and family, he served in various Baptist churches as a Sunday school teacher and deacon. Glenn and June also were house parents for several children’s homes in south Texas before moving to the Houston area. Glenn received his Masters of Education from Sam Houston State University, and coached and taught school for over 25 years. Later, he was a homebuilder in the Lake Conroe area for more than 20 years. For the last 17 years, until his illness, he was a deacon at First Baptist Church of Willis.Glenn is survived by his loving wife, June Haas of Willis; daughter, Belinda Wiener and husband Ernest of Willis; son, Mark Haas and wife Marga of Willis; sister, Evelyn Keathley and husband Flem of Willis; brother, Theo Haas and wife Emma Jean of Conroe; grandchildren, Kyle Wiener, Micah Wiener, Paige Haas and Jaron Haas. Numerous other relatives and friends also survive. A special thanks to Geneva Cooper, caregiver and friend, during Glenn’s illness.
