

Helen Lavern Blackman, 76, passed away on May 6, 2026. Born on July 17, 1949, in Hot Springs, Arkansas, she moved as a child to Texas and made her home in Cleveland, Texas. She graduated from Ross S. Sterling High School in Baytown, Texas.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer Spencer and Marie Kinney, and by her husband, Jerry Blackman, to whom she was married for 46 years.
She is survived by her daughters, Sheryl Sutton and husband John, and Anita Tate and husband Kenny; grandchildren, Brooke Simmons and husband Devin, Steven Sutton, Stacey Sutton, Melissa DaSilva and husband Gustavo, and Lauren Tate; great grandchildren, Chloe Coleman, Ellie Simmons, Olivia DaSilva, and Florence DaSilva; siblings, Louise Miller, Eugene Spencer and wife Linda, and Brenda England and husband James; brother-in-law, W.L. "Blackie" Blackman and wife Betty; sister-in-laws, Margie Strickland and Hilda Scribner; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Those who knew Helen will remember a life grounded in faith and expressed through steady kindness and thoughtful care for others. Her love for church and family was a guiding presence, and her devotion was evident in the quiet ways she served—volunteering at the church food pantry and working in the church nursery. In these simple, generous acts, she became deeply cherished by many.
Visitation will be held at Cashner Funeral Home, in Conroe, Texas on Thursday, May 14, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
The Funeral Service will be held at Cashner Funeral Home, in Conroe, Texas on Friday, May 15, 2026, beginning at 10:00 am with a graveside service immediately following in Garden Park Cemetery.
