

Horace Russell Cecil, Jr., 84 passed away peacefully with his family by his side on the afternoon of Saturday, May 14, 2011. He was born in the Houston Heights to Horace Russell Sr. and Ima Pugh Cecil on November 27, 1926. He attended Reagan High School and served his country during WW II in the U. S. Navy. H.R. met and married Helen in 1955. Together they had two children and lived the American dream. He was a loving husband, father, and papaw. His kind heart, ingenuity, and the example he set will live on in all those he touched. Family was a big part of his life. He is survived by his loving wife, Helen Skelton Cecil, his daughter Pat Calfee and husband Keith, his son Russell Cecil and wife Jennifer, granddaughters Danielle and husband Dave Powers, and Carson Cecil. In addition he is survived by extended relatives and many friends.
The family would like to extend an invitation to the visitation at Waverly Presbyterian Church, on May 17, 2011, at 2 pm and the Celebration of Life immediately following at 3 pm.
