After graduating from Conroe High School in 1972, he worked in the oilfield and traveled abroad. After leaving the oilfield in 1981, he joined and eventually took ownership of his father’s flooring business, Perkins Carpet Company kicking off a 40 year career.
In 1984, he met Lynn Adkins and they wed in 1988, going on to have two children, Anthony Perkins and Carly Perkins Buller.
Jimmy was pre-deceased by father, Buddy Perkins and sister, Mona Perkins Landrum. He is survived by his wife, Lynn, son Anthony, daughter Carly Perkins Buller her husband Justin, his mother Barbara Perkins, sister, Laura Perkins Livesay and her husband Dennis, granddaughter Lana, grandson Bowen step grandchildren Heather and Hunter and various other nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was an avid member of many charitable groups including Ducks Unlimited-San Jacinto Chapter, Montgomery County Livestock Commission and cook-off for 20 plus years. He also donated to many schools and fund raisers, a very charitable man. He would help anyone he could and never knew a stranger. Jimmy was also an amazing “Big Daddy” to 4 grandchildren, he loved kids. Blessed is the word to describe anyone who had the chance to meet him. He loved everyone with no judgement. He was a silly man and could make anyone smile and feel completely loved easily with his kind heart. Jimmy treated everyone like family and will be missed far and wide.
Celebration of life will be held Monday, July 19, 2021, at 2:00pm in Cashner Colonial Chapel (801 Teas, Road, Conroe, Texas, 77303).
