James "Jim" Lee Shaw, age 84, of Conroe, Texas, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at his residence. He was born on March 10, 1942, in Texarkana, Texas, to the late Guy Carlton Shaw, Jr. and Ruby Hooks Shaw.
Jim proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged. He dedicated 22 years of his professional life working as Superintendent for Teal Construction, where he was known for his unwavering dedication, strong leadership, and commitment to mentorship. He took special pride in mentoring his step-granddaughter, Amber, during her college internship.
Jim was a devoted family man who cherished time spent with his loved ones. A lifelong animal lover, he delighted in sharing stories of his childhood companions—his dog Lucky and his pet raccoon Tootsie. He also bred Arabian horses, a passion that brought him great joy throughout his life.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Mary Shaw; his daughter, Kasha Singer and her husband Joel of Fountain Valley, California; his son, Zonith Shaw of Riverside, California; his stepdaughter, Brandy Maraviglia and her husband Steve of Montgomery, Texas; and his stepson, Keith Texter and his wife Brandy of Magnolia, Texas. He is also survived by three step-grandchildren: Amber and Trent Maraviglia of Montgomery, Texas, and Cody Texter of Magnolia, Texas, along with many other family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
A visitation will be held at Cashner Funeral Home, 801 Teas Road, Conroe, TX 77303, on Sunday, March 29, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. A graveside service will be held at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77038, on Monday, March 30, 2026, from 9:30 am to 10:00 am.
