Janice Kay Hawthorne, of Onalaska, Texas, passed away on June 9, 2025, at the age of 66. She was born on December 1, 1958, the first child of Walter and Beverly Bryant. Her life was beautifully shaped by love and family, beginning with the birth of her daughter, Jana Parker, on January 5, 1988. On January 25, 2004, she married the love of her life, Frank Hawthorne, and with him welcomed their son, James Hawthorne.
Janice was happiest when surrounded by those she loved. Whether enjoying a date night at Lowe’s with Frank or having Mexican food and shopping with Jana, her joy came from simple, heartfelt moments. She took immense pride in James’s journey to becoming a firefighter, saying that “He is her hero.” She loved her role as their mother above all else.
Aunt Janice shared a special bond with her great-nieces Erin and Charlotte and cherished every opportunity to spend time with family and friends. Her warmth, humor, and genuine love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Janice was preceded in death by her beloved father, Walter “Aubie” Bryant; her grandparents, Clyde and Charlene Oates; her mother and father-in-law, Wayne and Emmie Hawthorne; her brother-in-law, Daryl Hawthorne; and her nephew, Christopher Bryant.
She is survived by her loving husband, Frank Hawthorne; daughter, Jana Parker; son, James Hawthorne; mother, Beverly Bryant; brother, Ronald Bryant and his wife Kathy; sister, Sandra Oeding; brother, Craig Bryant and his wife Tami; and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will carry her memory forward with love.
A funeral service to honor Janice’s life will be held on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at Cashner Funeral Home in Conroe, Texas. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m., followed by the service at 10:00 a.m. Graveside services will be held at Security Cemetery at 12:00 p.m. A reception will follow at Security Baptist Church, where all are invited to share memories and celebrate her life.
We find peace in knowing Janice is now at rest with her Lord and reunited with her daddy and loved ones who went before her.
