Javier loved spending time with his friends and family. He enjoyed being outdoors, hunting and fishing and when he was not, he liked to binge watch NCIS. He has a love for classic cars and car shows, and even owned his own 1967 Mustang.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Javier and Nelba, brother Heriberto Barrera, and sisters Adriana Barrera and Maria Nelba Barrera. Javier is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Julissa, children Nancy Weenig and husband Matt, Javier Alan Barrera, and Nicole Barrera, grandson Cameron Weenig and numerous other family members and friends.
Visitation will be at Cashner Funeral Home on Sunday, July 23, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with Rosary to begin at 7:00 p.m. Funeral mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Monday, July 24, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. with burial to follow in Garden Park Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers are Javier Alan Barrera, Matt Weenig, Rodolfo Moya, Osiel Moya, Eddie Barrera, Alex Garza, Adam Garza, Charlie Corle and Cameron Weenig.
