She was born January 25, 1940 in Dry Prong, Louisiana to Marlon and Lena Mae Smith. She married Wilbur R. Baxley May 17, 1957 and subsequently had six children. They moved to the Houston, TX area in 1965 and spent her last years in their Conroe, Tx residence. Her life was filled with being a mother, playing the piano and/or organ, as well as serving in various positions at her church. She was invaluable as Wilbur’s secretary at Backslee A/C Service.
She spent her life serving others as God gave her opportunity, beginning with her children and grandchildren, as well as in her community. She served with her husband in a weekly Bible study at Autumn Hills Convalescent Center in Conroe.

She is survived by her loving husband, Wilbur R. Baxley, sons, Marlon Baxley of Cypress, TX, James Baxley and wife, Pam of Dobbin, TX, Kent Baxley of Coldspring, TX, and Kerry Baxley and wife, Pam of Coldspring, TX, daughters, Celia Huntsman and husband, Sandy of Boca Raton, FL, and Connie Baxley of Conroe, TX, sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Wilton Baxley of Bentley, LA, and grandchildren, Stacey, Matthew, Wesley, Blair, Daniel, Trenton, Keith, Joshua, Mikalyn and Marissa and multiple great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Cashner Funeral Home in Conroe with visitation held just prior to the service.
Additional funeral services will be held in Pineville, Louisiana at Hixson Brother’s Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 21st at 1:00 p.m. with visitation just prior to service. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Dry Prong.
