“When his eyes saw Jesus, it took his breath away.” On August 21, 2010, Larry L. “Don” Davidson went to sleep at his earthly home and awoke in Heaven with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ—listening to the beautiful music that only Heaven can provide.
Larry was born on June 13, 1935 in Lockhart, Alabama to Gillis Edgar Davidson and Minnie Ola Bass Davidson. Larry resided in Odessa, Texas from 1951 to 1983, at which time he moved his family to the Bryan/College Station area.
While in Odessa, Larry met and married the love and light of his life, Marlene Gale Moseley, on September 30, 1960. They raised their four children, three daughters and one son there. Larry worked for Downs-Clark, Inc. for over 21 years. While residing in the Bryan/College Station area, he was employed with the Physical Plant at Texas A & M University for 17 years.
Larry was preceded in death by his mother and father and three brothers. He is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Marlene Davidson of The Woodlands; son, Michael Don Davidson and wife, Lonna, of Athens; daughters, Traci Marlene Harvey and spouse, Dean, of Magnolia, Charlotte Ann Forester and spouse, Glenn, of Cedar Park and Suzanne Marie Eggleston and spouse, Doug, of Spring; six grandchildren, Annie Harvey Mauldin, Jackie Harvey, Ashley and Aaron Davidson, Bailey and Gaye Eggleston; three great grandchildren, Gracie, Lillian and Ivan Mauldin; one brother, Elmer Davidson of Grand Prairie; two sisters, Mary Sweatt of Burton and Mac Mason of Odessa; and mother-in-law, Bea Moseley of Odessa. Numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.
Larry was cremated and, at his request, there will be no memorial service. To celebrate Larry’s life, in lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Crown of Texas Hospice Foundation for Hospice Care of the Southwest, 2040 North Loop 336 West #324, Conroe, TX 77304. The family wants to express appreciation and heartfelt thank to all the staff of Hospice, especially, Dr. Frank Adams and nurses Janis, Misty, Sherry, Rhonda, Carolyn, Susan, Bobbie and Kay.
