She graduated from Santa Fe High School in Alta Loma in 1947, and the next year married Robert Melvin Westmoreland on May 25, 1948. After several moves to Hearne, Bay City, and Dayton Texas, they finally settled in Conroe in 1956 and immediately became involved in this small, but growing community where First Baptist Church, Conroe, became the center of family life. While dad managed the downtown variety store, mom became a homemaker and mother to two daughters, Holly and Melvalyn, and son, Bobby. Through the years mom and dad cared for and loved each other through good times and bad until dad’s death in 2017. They had been married almost 70 years. It’s a love story we won’t soon forget, because of the great example they set about love and commitment.
