Michael Ray Joost, “Pop Pop”, age 57, of Conroe, Texas passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, June 1, 2025. Michael was a 1986 graduate of J. Frank Dobie high school and went on to work in the automotive industry for over 33 years, starting out detailing cars and quickly moving up to managing the Make-Ready departments of multiple dealerships, ending his career as a HR/Operations Manager. Michael was a jack of all trades who had an unrivaled attention to detail and was consulted by many for IT support, anything car related, and provided insight and guidance on many life decisions. He was a devoted husband, a beloved father, and Pop Pop, as well as a loving Cat Dad to Bellatrix. Michael enjoyed strategy board games, reading, and collecting books, science fiction toys, knives, and dice. He loved playing video games with his family and friends and watching Pittsburgh Steeler football (cherishing the Super Bowl XL and XLIII runs with his family).
Preceded in death by his parents August and Diann Joost, and his beloved Aunt Lera Watts. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Joy Joost; son, Noah Joost and wife Kayla; daughter, Ann Rau and husband Christian; 4 grandchildren, Ender and Holden Joost, and Owen and Blair Rau.
A visitation for Michael will be held Monday, June 9, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Cashner Funeral Home, 801 Teas Road, Conroe, TX 77303. A funeral mass will occur Tuesday, June 10, 2025 at 10:30 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 109 N Frazier St, Conroe, TX 77301. A graveside service will follow mass at Garden Park Cemetery, 801 Teas Rd, Conroe, TX 77303.
