Nancy was born on May 20, 1941, in Greenfield, MA to Ron and Ruth Chapin. She grew up near White Plains, NY and attended college at William Smith in Geneva, NY. A lifetime love of travel was sparked when she became a flight attendant (stewardess in those days) for United Airlines.
After briefly living in Chicago, IL, she married and moved to Houston in 1962. For several years, she focused on raising her children and numerous social activities. They moved into their new home in River Plantation in 1969. Nancy had many hobbies - entertaining, playing bridge, reading, etc. - in addition to her passion for travel. She loved to learn. In the late 1970s, Nancy reentered the workforce as a travel agent. It didn’t take her long to figure out she could do this on her own, and Nancy’s Travel was born. Her agency served many in the Conroe area for decades. In these years, Nancy literally saw the world. From taking a cruise down the Yangtze river, to hopping the pond in the Concorde, Nancy was a tireless advocate for her clients while fulfilling her own dreams.
Later in life, her grandchildren became the center of her life. She loved nothing more than spending time with them, teaching them, and infecting them with the travel bug.
Nancy is survived by her husband of nearly 40 years, Ralph Yovino, her sister, Linda Hodgkins of April Sound, her children, Tracy and Anne-Marie Lee of Galena, IL and New Braunfels, Sandy Lee of Houston, her beloved grandchildren, Madeline, Abigail, Jackson and Reagan, a niece and nephews. She is predeceased by a long line of dachshunds - Rudolph, Shotsie, Baron and Pretzel.
Nancy left the world a better place than she found it. She will be dearly missed. In lieu of flowers, Nancy would love a donation to the church she attended most of her life, First United Methodist Church of Conroe at fmconroe.org. We are planning a celebration of Nancy’s life at 12:00pm on March 11th at the River Plantation Country Club.
