Born on August 3, 1936 to Ralph Edelburt Summers and Philippa (Phyllis) Carmella LaPorte Summers in Chicago, Illinois, Phyllis lived a full and vibrant life filled with love and family.
Married on February 14, 1953, she was the loving wife of Vincent L. Masterson. Together, they raised a family of six children in Elk Grove Village, Illinois. Phyllis was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and homemaker who took great pride in caring for her family and friends. She was lovingly known as “Nana” or “Nanza” by her family. She was an exceptional cook and was well known for her delicious Italian cooking. In 1990, Phyllis and Vincent retired to live in the suburbs of Houston, Texas where she lived for the remainder of her life. She had a passion for antiques and jewelry which she used to open her own antique shop, Antiques and More, in Old Town Spring, Texas, where she ran her business for 10 years. A number of years later, she kept her passion for antiques and jewelry alive by becoming a member of the Garrett House Antiques where she worked for many years and developed many close friendships.
Phyllis was a woman of great faith, who attended Mary Queen Catholic Church. She was a kind and generous soul who always put others before herself. Her friends and family will always remember her warm smile, quick witted sense of humor and unwavering love.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Vincent, and her grandson Mitchell.
Phyllis is survived by, her six children, Vincent (Valerie) Masterson, Nicholas (LaVerne) Masterson, Kevin (Cindy) Masterson, Melissa (Mark) Mobley, Patrick Masterson, and Scott Masterson, her grandchildren, Brian (Emily) Masterson, Sarah Canney, Colleen (Roland) Villamin, Joseph (Brianna) Masterson, Jessica Masterson, Erica (Rich) Plager, Andrew Masterson, Anthony Masterson, Chelsea (Ian) Krawiec, Brock Masterson, Claire Masterson, and Grant Masterson and her great-grandchildren, Liam, Collin, Owen, Kynzlee, Caroline, Vincent, Timothy, Aaron, Roman, Dominic, Austin and Timothy, as well as her three sisters-in-law, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and countless friends all who loved her dearly.
A memorial service and celebration of life will be held on Friday, March 14, 2025 at 10:00 in the morning at Cashner Funeral Home & Garden Park Cemetery. 801 Teas Road, Conroe, Texas 77303. Interment of ashes will occur immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
