Rodger Allan Jensen, age 80, passed away on December 27, 2025, surrounded by the family who loved and cherished him. He was born on September 13, 1945, in Marshalltown, Iowa. In 1949, his family moved to Brownsville, Texas, where he later graduated from Brownsville High School. During summers, Rodger returned to Iowa to help on his grandparents’ farm. It was there that he developed a lifelong love of tractors, hard work, and the simple pleasure of being outdoors.
Rodger proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, including service in the Philippines and Vietnam. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and carried the values of service, dedication, and integrity with him throughout his life.
Following his military service, Rodger attended Sam Houston State University, where he earned a degree in Industrial Technology. After graduation, he took a position with Haney Oil Company in Huntsville, Texas—an opportunity that led him to open his own business, Jensen Mobil. A few years later, he expanded his venture by adding a second full-service station. In the late 1980s, Rodger made a career change into the oilfield industry, where he worked until his retirement.
A true hands-on man, Rodger was rarely still. He enjoyed camping with his family, woodworking, spending time at the beach, and admiring fine machines—especially Corvettes. With both his industrial technology background and the skills passed down from his father, Rodger left his mark on every home in which he lived. He crafted beautiful bowls, chests, and countless other pieces—true works of talent and pride. His homes reflected his care and craftsmanship, from meticulously kept lawns and flowers to the rooms he built with his own hands.
At home, surrounded by family and his loving wife, Rodger found his greatest joy in life’s quieter moments: a good cup of coffee, favorite music playing in the background, and a table filled with great food and even better company.
Rodger is survived by his beloved wife of 25 years, Kathy; his children Kimberly, Kathryn, Jason, Becky, Ryan, Brandon, Kristi, and Dina; 20 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. He will be remembered for his steady presence, feisty spirit, and wonderful sense of humor—whether he was building something with his hands or sharing laughter with his grandchildren. Rodger was a man who took pride in doing things the right way.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Becky Jensen; his sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Willis R. Cooke; and his grandsons, James Werner and Jace Sauser.
A celebration of Rodger’s life will be held on January 16, 2026, at Cashner Funeral Home in Conroe, Texas, from 2PM to 3PM. In lieu of flowers, the family invites memorial contributions to any organization supporting disabled veterans—or simply asks that you honor Rodger’s memory by enjoying a cup of coffee and a favorite song.
