

Ruby Dee Fitts passed away November 26, 2014 in Norman, OK at the age of 92. She was born September 24, 1922 in Willis, TX to Benjamin and Mable Barron. Ruby Dee was the first receptionist for the original seven astronauts at NASA, Houston and worked as a secretary at San Jacinto College, Baytown, TX. After moving to Norman, OK in December 1986, she worked part time as a helper to elder women, such as cooking and running errands as needed. Ruby Dee enjoyed cooking and sewing. She is preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Mable Barron; sister, Bertha Lee Pitts and husband Dalton. Ruby Dee is survived by her son, Dana G. Hall and wife Rosalie; daughter, Rebecca Ann Jenkins; son, Barron K. Fitts and wife Leah; Grandchildren; Cory S. Hall and wife Keyla Franqui-Coffie-Hall, Brian W. Hall, D’Ann Schimming and husband Mark, Kevin Fitts; Great- Grandchildren; Alex McNabb; brother, Benny G. Barron and his wife Elly, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She has a little white chihuahua named Gracie who she dearly loved and would not even go anywhere unless Gracie could go. Gracie taught herself to get help when Ruby Dee needed someone in the house. Services will be held in the Cashner Colonial Chapel located at 801 Teas Road, Conroe, Texas 77303 on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at 12:30pm. Visitation will be from 10:30am to 12:30pm.
