Sarah Ruth Hatfield was born in Luray, MO in 1928 to Annabelle (Frank) and Alva Courtney, both preceeded her in death. She had 3 siblings: a brother, Richard and Betty Courtney of Kahoka, MO, sisters, Linda Sconyers of Howe, OK, and Wilma Graham (deceased). In 1945 she met and married Leo Hatfield, a Navy sailor. Throughout her life she faithfully supported her family and husband as she became a preacher's wife.
Sarah was the mother of 2 children, a daughter Patty and Paul Lebedzinski of Huntsville, TX and a son David and Sharon Hatfield of Sorrento, BC, Canada. She was also blessed with 7 grandchildren: Jonathan and Heather Hatfield, Ruth and Richard Darby of Canada, Ruhamah Watts, Kaisha Watts, Tinnette Gonzales, Danielle Watts and Mark and Courtney Lebedzinski of Texas. Sarah also had 21 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
She left an amazing legacy with her amazing smile, peaceful and gentle spirit, great integrity and hard work ethic. Most impressive was her unfailing passion to serve Christ throughout the ups and downs of life. Sarah's parting words:
