These are only a few of the qualities of my brother I want to share:
B. Best friend and brother.  Benevolent
R. Reverent. Tom was a devoted, faithful man of God. Even as a teen, you 
       could often find him asleep with his bible open on his chest
O. Others first, even on his death bed he was worried about others
T. Teacher, tutor  Tom was a patient teacher, mentor to me as we were                  
      growing  up.  He taught me scales and technique on coronet prior to 
       my 5th grade that carried thru my 12th grade
H. Helpful. Always willing to help whoever or wherever he could
E  Empathetic. He really could identify with other's feelings-put himself in 
     their place
 R  Respecting. He was always respectful to others-young and old . He felt 
        that everyone deserved respect

I will miss him terribly, but I know he is in Heaven with our Mother and I will see them both one day.

       Tom and I played music together a couple of times a week for many years.  A small group of musicians playing together is somewhat like a marriage.  I think the Panorama Pep Band was a 5 way marriage.
        Tom York is perhaps the most helpful  man I have ever known.  He did not know how to say no when someone needed a hand.   I learned that when we were lugging musical equipment to or from a gig.   He was quiet.  He was gentle.  He was always eager to learn to improve his bass playing.  I  still have some of the sheets of music we used in our performances that are marked up in yellow as a result of him learning a new piece of music for a gig..
         Tom was a “finish” carpenter.  I had an old wooden box with wheels on it that carried my stage piano keyboard in to all of our gigs.  It was made of old wooden fence boards, painted black.  Highly functional, but pretty “tacky".
         I asked Tom if he could make me a new keyboard carrying box, cause my old black box was not commensurate with some of the places we were playing.  (The keyboard remains in the box during the performance.  You just lift the lid and there was the keyboard).  Tom took a few measurements and said sure he would glad to make me a new case. I offered him a $100 for materials which he promptly refused.
        Sometime later Tom delivers the case.  It is about 55 inches long, 14 inches front to back and about 6 inches deep. Tom made it out of solid Cypress.  The top was a Cypress board about 55 inches long and 14  inches wide  and half inch thick…(Try to find that in Lumber yard!!).  I later learned Tom had cut that tree down, and apparently had the boards milled in a lumber yard..  All the hardware (hinges etc.) were solid brass. This case was a work of art.  Every time I used it I was afraid I’d scratch it.
       I have missed not playing with Tom for the last year and half.  He was a special person in my life.
