William Taylor Coleman, Jr, who would eventually be known by the name Bill or Billy, by those who would know and love him, was born on November 8,1945 to loving and caring parents William Taylor Coleman, Sr and Robbie Leora (Lowe) Coleman in Houston, Texas.
Bill’s dad was a roughneck working in the oil fields of Texas, so the family moved quite often. The family finally settled long enough in Schulenburg, Texas for Bill to graduate from Schulenburg High School in 1964. Bill was the Salutatorian of his class.
Upon graduation Bill enlisted in the Air Force. His tour of duty only lasted 18 months as Bill’s dad was no longer able to care for the little farm due to health problems, so Bill received an early out with an Honorable Discharge to come home and take care of the farm.
After working the farm for a period of them, Bill fully realized the advantage of an education and enrolled in Blinn Jr. College, finally receiving his Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Sam Houston State University in 1968 finishing in the top 10% of his class. Not satisfied with this, Bill enrolled in the University of Houston-Bates Law School earning his law degree in 1973. He was in the top one-third of his class. He passed the Bar Exam and always maintained his law license to practice in Texas.
Bill was a very intelligent person who could grasp the details of almost any subject. Those that knew him would stand in awe at his ability to comprehend what was being said and provide a response that showed the depth of his understanding of the subject matter.
Bill had a passion for anything PBS (Public Broadcasting System). He owned every M*A*S*H episode on VHS (Video Home System), like many older males he loved western movies and “Good Ole” country music (none of this modern “Tennie Bopper” stuff). These passions were only outweighed by his love of the law and politics. If you wanted a spirited deep conversation on one of these, just say something within Bill’s hearing and a spirited discussion was on.
The greatest event in the life of Bill was the day he gave his life to Jesus Christ. This decision came later in his life. We can be assured that Bill is now in Heaven with Jesus, his parents and brother and many others who have accepted Jesus as Lord of their life.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William Sr. and Robbie, his brother Johnny. Bill is survived by Jeanette Coleman and his daughters: Cathleen Easdon, spouse Bryan; Sarah Chaffin, spouse Jason; and Susie Robinson, spouse Alan. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren: Grandson Ayden and granddaughter Adyson Easdon; grandson Rivers and three granddaughters, Charlee, Scout, and Lennox Chaffin; and granddaughter Olive Robinson.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at 11:00 am at the Willis Cemetery.
