Bill, is what he preferred to be called, although many relatives and employers knew him as Horace. He always during his youth, had worked so many jobs, he would tell funny stories on end about them. Bill grew up with just his mom (who worked as a waitress) and his brother Howard. While living in Lubbock Texas, he went to work as a house painter, he said it always held his interest because you got the immediate satisfaction when a job was finished. Painting Professionally he moved his family from Lubbock, Texas to Houston Texas area. In Houston he worked for himself and eventually Crawford Construction in Bellaire Tx. In his career he worked on many exclusive homes in River Oaks, Tanglewood, Bellaire, West University and many other upscale areas. Many of his clients became friends and called him even after retirement to come do some work for them.
Over the years he worked with his sons, also as a self employed painter. During his retirement years he worked part time at a job he really liked, as a field representative for L Squared Engineering, dropping off permit applications and picking up permits, plans and making bank runs or any chore they had for him. He loved driving and after so many years working all over the Houston area he was seldom lost. Bill was loved by many and really never met a stranger. He was a honest, caring and loving man, although he never told anyone how much he loved them, I think those who knew him believed he did.
