Chester was born in Yonkers, New York to Catherine and Stephen Just on July 6, 1935. He went to Rutgers University for his law degree. He was married to Connie Kilyk for 46 years and they have two daughters, Susan Hewitt (Jeffrey) and Alice Grosswald (Seth).
He is also father to Catherine Eden (Don), Judith Barnett, Nancy Just (John) and John Just. Chester worked for the State of NJ as an Administrative Law Adjudicator while having a general law practice, including representation for several American Federation of Musicians Locals, then moved to Florida. Chester continued his passion for working with organizations for change. He was a Broward County Election District Clerk and DEC Committeeman. He was especially involved with Floridians for Alternatives to the Death Penalty, Progressive Democrats of America, and was an acting member of the Broward County Living Wage Advisory Board. Chester was involved with the Coral Springs Parkland Democratic Club and local condo boards.
Chester is predeceased in death by parents, Catherine and Stephen Just, sister, Helen Teffenhart, brother, John (Jack) Just, and daughter MaryAnn Just.
Chester is also survived by his grandchildren, Jerzi and Devy Just Hewitt, Asher and Ellie Grosswald, Jennifer Holmquist, and Becca Harden.
He is also blessed with great-grandchildren Hayden, Emerson, Parker, Cooper, and Sebastian
A visitation for Chester will be held Thursday, May 30, 2024 from 4:30 PM to 8:30 PM at Kraeer Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 1655 University Drive, Coral Springs, FL 330716026. A funeral mass will occur Friday, May 31, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 1401 Coral Ridge Dr, Coral Springs, FL 33071.
